Six students were handed over to the police station for ragging in IU

Some students have been caught red-handed while ragging in the Islamic University (EB) residential hall. The incident took place in room 330 of Lalon Shah Hall of the university on Monday midnight. Meanwhile, six accused students were handed over to police custody at EB police station.
The accused students are Sharif Sheikh (Shihan) Sabbir Hossain, Limon Hossain, Kant Barua, Saqib Khan of the 2022-23 year of Finance and Banking Department and Akumika Barua of the 2022-23 year of Law and Land Management Department.
It is known that the accused called the victims to room No. 330 of Lalon Shah Hall around 9:30 PM. The victims were – Saim, Rakibul, Shamim, Rakib, Hamza, Tarek, Rishan, Tanveer and Mamun to name a few. At one point, the accused left four people (Shamim, Saim, Rakibul, Hamza) and the rest were asked to write assignments. Later, it was alleged that Sabbir and Akchi physically and mentally tortured the four people.
During this, one of the victims was asked to give five different smiles, another was asked to call foul language and another was asked to dance. At that time, the senior student of the hall, Hasanul Banna, appeared and caught them red-handed and later the security officers of the university handed over the accused to police custody at the police station. Later in the morning, Shakib Khan was released as there were no charges against him.
Regarding ragging, student Hasanul Banna said, 'I received a complaint that ragging is going on in room no. 330 of the hall. Then I went there and saw that Sabbir and Acumin were giving rags to them. When asked about the incident later, they denied it. Later, when some friends of the victim students reached the spot, the victims confirmed that the ragging was going on. Later, with the help of the university administration, the accused were handed over to police custody at the police station.
Earlier, on November 16, around eleven o'clock at night, the accused called the fresh 12 students to the Saadi and Hadi hostels adjacent to the campus. The accused are also Shafiullah, Tariqul, Mukul and Jihad of the Finance and Banking Department of the year 2022-23. Later, the victims were subjected to physical and mental torture till 2.30 am Some of them were asked the names of the stars of porn movies when the trend came up. Some are also asked to act as porn stars. Apart from this, obscene poems were recited to the three persons and various threats were also made.
Meanwhile, Sharif Sheikh Sheehan, accused in the incident, said, "I was not in the hall room." Later I was called. At that time I went inside and saw Banna Bhai Earlier yesterday, we sat with the juniors in the mess. On that day, the names of all the teachers of the department including the names of the VC, Proctor Sir were asked. If no one can do it, he is given a little bullying. However, no one was beaten or physically abused.'
Meanwhile, EB police station duty officer SI Masud said, 'University administration has brought six people to us. Later they were safely kept in police custody at the police station. Next steps will be taken by talking to the university administration tomorrow.'
