The villagers of Hijaldanga in Mulia Union of Narail Sadar Upazila have organized a special religious and cultural event on the occasion of Sri Sri Shyama Puja. A colorful poet and song festival will be held at Baba Pagal Chand Ashram on the premises of Hijaldanga Temple from 4 pm on October 25 (Saturday).
Popular poet Pritish Sarkar of Abhaynagar in Jessore district and poet Prashant Sarkar of Madaripur district will perform religious poet and song at this event.
This event is aimed at reviving the practice of religious music and culture, said Swapan Kumar Biswas, senior teacher of Hijaldanga Government Primary School. He said,
“Currently, the practice of religious music is being lost in the crowd of modern music. Once, poet songs and Jatrapala were a source of religious and social awareness in rural society. But now people are moving away from that tradition. Therefore, our aim is to invite people to the path of religion through religious music on the occasion of the worship of Sri Sri Shyama Maa.”
He also said, “We want people to listen to religious music and keep the message of religion in their hearts. Therefore, everyone is invited to join this poet song event on behalf of Hijaldanga villagers.”
It is worth noting that Sri Sri Shyama Puja was held in Mulia Union of Narail Sadar Upazila with great pomp. The worship activities were completed in a festive atmosphere in the presence of lakhs of devotees and fans. The formalities of this year's Shyama Puja ended on October 23 (Thursday) with a religious procession and immersion.
