Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner (DB) Mohammad Haroon Or Rasheed said that attacks and vandalism were planned under the guise of government service quota reform movement to weaken the police.
He said, 'how the Jamaat and BNP cadres brutally beat and killed our two policemen. They went to Jatrabari, Shanir Akhra, Rayerbagh area and targeted the police. They also announced a reward of 10,000 rupees if the police could kill them.
DMP Additional Commissioner (DB) Harun Or Rashid said these things in a press conference at DMP Media Center on Thursday (July 26) afternoon.
Haroon said that because of the police, they repeatedly attacked the country and the people and failed. For this they have targeted the police. He said, they searched house to house. The objective was only one - to demoralize the police. They may have thought that the movement would succeed if they could demoralize the police. If the police are weak, they will retreat. They then considered this state to be ineffective and could lead to the fall of the government. The DB chief said that legal action is being taken against those who have led all this and exchanged money. No matter where they live, they will not be exempted.
