The Islamic University (EB) branch Chhatra Dal has held a protest march and rally in protest against the murder of Jagannath University student and branch Chhatra Dal leader Jubayed Rahman. In this rally, it was demanded that those involved in the murder be hanged immediately.
The protest march started from the university's Zia intersection at around 8:30 pm on Sunday (October 19). The procession circled various roads of the campus and finally blocked the Khulna-Kushtia highway adjacent to the main gate. Branch Chhatra Dal leaders and activists participated in the protest rally there.
Branch Chhatra Dal convener Shahed Ahmed, member secretary Masud Rumi Mithun, joint convener Anwar Parvez, Anarul Islam, Rokon Uddin, Abu Daud, Ahsan Habib, members Rafiz Ahmed and Nur Uddin and other leaders and activists were present at the rally. They chanted various slogans in the procession, such as: ‘Why did my brother die, interim answer’, ‘Why is my brother in the grave, why is the murderer outside’, ‘I want hanging, hanging, I want the murderers to be hanged’, ‘The body is lying in the JBI, what is the interim doing’, ‘The body is lying in the EB, what is the interim doing’, ‘My brother was murdered, there is no time to stay at home’, ‘Education is terrorism, we cannot go together’ and ‘Chhatra Dal’s pledge, safe campus’.
At the protest rally, member secretary Masud Rumi Mithun said that those who killed Jagannath University student and Chhatra Dal leader Zubayed must be arrested immediately. The killers of Islamic University student Sajid have not been arrested yet. We will not give this government much more time. Those involved in all these murders must be hanged.
Convener Shahed Ahmed said, we wanted a changed Bangladesh after July. But one after another, Chhatra Dal leaders are being killed. After the murder of Samya in DU, now Zubayd has been killed in JDU. We did not want to see the bodies of students or any common people after August 5. We strongly condemn and protest this murder. The murderers must be arrested immediately and brought to justice. Even though three months have passed since Sajid's murder, the university and Kushtia police administration have not been able to do anything; they have failed. Meanwhile, important places in the state are on fire, which is being caused by the fugitive Hasina. We all have to be vigilant. Even though we have differences, we are not enemies of each other. We want the murderers to be arrested quickly.
Incidentally, the body of Jubayd Rahman, a student of Jagannath University, was recovered from the stairs of a building in Old Dhaka this evening. He was a student of the 15th batch of the university and a member of the convening committee of the Chhatra Dal branch.
