JOCSU Elections: Shibir-backed 'Indomitable Jabian Oikya' panel ahead in most posts

The results of the Jagannath University Central Students' Union (JOCSU) elections have begun to be announced. So far, the results of four halls have been announced, where the Shibir-backed 'Indomitable Jabian Oikya' panel is ahead in most posts, including the top three posts.
The Election Commission began announcing the results at around 7:30 am on Wednesday (January 7). In the results of the four centers released, Shibir-backed candidate Riazul Islam is leading with 428 votes for the Vice President (VP) post. His closest rival, Chhatra Dal-backed candidate AKM Rakib, received 394 votes.
For the General Secretary (GS) post, Abdul Alim Arif of the Shibir panel got 419 votes, while Khadijatul Kobra of the Chhatra Dal panel got 206 votes. For the Assistant General Secretary (AGS) post, Masud Rana of the Shibir panel got 408 votes and Atiqur Rahman Tanzil of the Chhatra Dal panel got 338 votes.
Meanwhile, although the Shibir-backed panel is ahead in the top three positions and most of the editorial positions, the Chhatra Dal-backed candidates are ahead in the positions of Library and Culture Secretary. In addition, Chhatra Dal-backed candidates are also in a good position in some of the executive member positions.
It is worth noting that the vote counting for the JOCSU elections was postponed for a long time due to a technical glitch. Later, both manual and machine counting began, but it could not be completed. The vote counting resumed after about five hours at around 1:45 am on Tuesday (January 6). However, the vote counting of only four centers was completed as of 7 am on Wednesday. The vote counting of 35 centers is still pending.
The four centers for which results have been announced so far are Anthropology, Public Administration, Geography and Pharmacy.
