Scientists reveal the real cause of kidney disease - find out what the cause is

Why does kidney disease occur? Not just due to lack of water - behind it is a special type of fat, which directly damages the energy-producing mitochondria of kidney cells. This new discovery was published by an international team of researchers including Harvard Medical School and the University of Utah.
The main theory of the study is that this substance called 'ceramide' destroys healthy kidney cells one by one, which results in acute kidney injury. When mitochondria are damaged, the process of cell energy production is disrupted, and kidney cells become useless.
Important results of the study:
It was found in mice that symptoms of kidney failure appear when ceramide levels are high.
When ceramide levels are controlled, the kidneys gradually start to recover.
Damaged kidney cells are being repaired through 'ceramide control therapy'.
Benefits of the therapy:
Damaged kidney cells are being repaired.
Chronic kidney disease patients are requiring less dialysis.
The patient's immune system is improving.
Why do ceramide levels increase?
Researchers say that ceramide is normally present in everyone's body. However, its levels can increase due to the consumption of processed foods, junk food, and excessive consumption of certain foods.
Researchers hope that if ceramide control is proven effective in large-scale therapy trials on humans, it will open up new avenues for preventing and treating kidney disease.
Next steps:
The research is still in its early stages. Therapy is being applied to patients according to their physical condition. However, if the same results are proven in all patients, experts believe that it will become a revolutionary method for treating kidney disease.
