Researchers from IUB Secure First Place Among 15 Countries at International Conference

A research team from the Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at Islamic University (IUB) has achieved a remarkable success on the international stage. They won first place among participants from 15 countries at the International Conference on Electrical, Computer, and Telecommunication Engineering, held at Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET) from January 29 to 31, 2026.
Out of 993 submitted research papers, 335 were shortlisted, and 286 were presented at the three-day conference. Alongside researchers and faculty from various universities in Bangladesh, students from the United States, United Kingdom, Russia, Australia, China, Japan, Germany, India, South Korea, Malaysia, and other countries participated. Among these, the IUB ICT students’ paper was recognized as the top research contribution.
The research team consists of Sourav Chakraborty, Mahfuzur Rahman, and Ahsan Habib, who conducted the study under the supervision of Professor Dr. Alamgir Hossain and guidance from Professor Dr. Shipon Mia and AFM Shahab Uddin.
Their research focused on “Enhancing Accuracy and Reliability in Brain Stroke Detection and Classification Using Explainable AI-Integrated Multimodal Deep Learning.” This study represents a significant advancement in applying artificial intelligence effectively in healthcare.
The team members emphasized that to achieve success in research, one must prioritize their interests, acquire maximum knowledge, and strive for innovation. They also noted that if the university takes further initiatives, such as organizing research workshops, students will progress and thrive academically.
This international recognition is a proud milestone for IUB, highlighting the growing standard of technology and research education in Bangladesh.
