68 leaders and activists of Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League arrested after procession in Chittagong

Police have arrested 68 leaders and activists of Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League in connection with the procession incident in the GEC intersection area of Chittagong city. The Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) gave this information in a press release on Tuesday (June 2) night.
According to the CMP, the arrested persons are accused of being involved in processions, sabotage activities and various anti-state activities. They were arrested in special operations conducted by different police stations in the city.
Police said that among the arrested, 13 people were arrested from Khulshi police station, 12 each from Bayezid Bostami and Kotwali police stations, 10 from Panchlaish police station, 7 from Doublemooring police station and 3 from EPZ police station. Besides, two people each from Baklia and Karnaphuli police stations and one each from Chawkbazar, Chandgaon, Halishahar, Pahartali, Akbarshah, Bandar and Patenga police stations have been arrested.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police said that the process of taking legal action against the arrested persons is underway. At the same time, it has been informed that special operations will continue in the city.
