The Bangladesh women's team would have had a chance to play in the 2025 ODI World Cup if they could win the three-match series against the West Indies. After losing the first match, they turned around in the second match, but Team Tigress missed out on that opportunity by losing by 8 wickets in the third and final match.
However, the opportunity is not completely gone. Bangladesh will have to fight in the qualifiers to play on the world stage. If they finish in the top two of the World Cup after competing with 6 teams, they will be guaranteed a ticket to the World Cup.
Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Jyoti won the toss and decided to bat in St. Kitts. The score stood at 49 for 1 in 10 overs. After that, the score was 94 for 3 at one stage, but the batting collapsed and Bangladesh was bowled out for just 118 runs in 43.5 overs.
Among the Bangladeshi batsmen, Sharmin Akhtar scored the highest 37 runs. Farzana Haque Pinki scored 22 runs. Sobhana Mostari tried to put up some resistance by scoring 25 runs off 62 balls, but the team's score did not increase.
In reply, West Indies batted aggressively from the start. After the openers' 45-run partnership, captain Hayley Mathews retired, but the hosts reached the target in 27.3 overs with a stormy innings of 33 runs off 39 balls from Kiana Joseph and 19 balls from Diandra Dottin.
Australia, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka and hosts India have confirmed their direct tickets to the Women's World Cup.
