It has been rumored for some time that Aqib Javed will not be the head coach of Pakistan. However, this time the process of becoming Pakistan's coach has officially started. The PCB is looking for a coach by posting an advertisement on its official website.
According to Pakistani media, Aqib Javed was offered an extension as coach. But when he rejected the application, the PCB officially started looking for a coach. In the application to become a coach, the PCB mentioned that the interested person must have passed at least a level-three coaching course. Along with this, he must have at least 10 years of coaching experience at the national or domestic level.
The Pakistan Cricket Board appointed Aqib Javed as an interim coach in November last year. Gary Kirsten was removed from the post of white-ball coach and this former pacer was added. Then Jason Gillespie was also removed. Aqib Javed took charge of Pakistan in all three formats. However, he could not pull the team that was suffering from lack of form.
Even then, the Pakistan Cricket Board had faith in Aqib Javed. However, the former pacer had a different wish. According to Pakistani media, Aqib Javed wants to become the head of the PCB's High Performance Center. He can be seen in this position in the future. The PCB released a recruitment notification for this position yesterday. This position has been vacant since the resignation of Nadeem Khan.
PCB sources claim that the board is reluctant to work with the country's former cricketers for the time being. Their goal this time is a foreign coach. However, the PCB has a different plan in this case too. Although they have a tendency to bring in famous coaches in the past, this time they want to get out of there. Instead, the PCB is looking for some promising names as coaches.
