The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has expressed its reluctance to play the T20 World Cup in India due to security concerns. For this reason, a request was made to the International Cricket Council (ICC) to organize matches at an alternative venue. However, after several rounds of discussions, the ICC has clearly stated that the World Cup matches will be held in India as per the scheduled schedule. In the latest meeting, the BCB has been given one day to inform the final decision.
The BCB will have to inform today whether the Bangladesh team will go to India to participate in the World Cup or not. Before this important decision, Sports Advisor Asif Nazrul will discuss with the cricketers in the World Cup squad. Then, as per the government's guidelines, the BCB will inform the ICC of their final position.
Various opinions have emerged in the cricket community for and against playing in India. At such a time, national team cricketer Enamul Haque Bijoy has clarified his position in favor of playing the World Cup. In a post on social media Facebook, he said that cricket should be kept above everything.
Vijay wrote in his post, “Playing in a World Cup is the dream of the entire country. A cricketer’s dream is to play in the World Cup, and the dream of the next generation is to play in the World Cup. The game is above everything.” His statement has already created a lot of discussion among cricket fans.
Meanwhile, an important virtual meeting of the ICC was held yesterday, Wednesday evening, Bangladesh time. Representatives of the full member countries of the ICC were present, as well as top officials of the organization. Most of the countries participating in the meeting voted in favor of Bangladesh going to India to play the World Cup.
The ICC meeting also informed that if Bangladesh does not participate in the World Cup in the end, it has been decided to include Scotland in the tournament as an alternative. Overall, today’s decision will determine what the future of Bangladesh is going to be in the T20 World Cup.
