After a long period of uncertainty over the upcoming Football World Cup, the Information Ministry has announced a new decision. Bangladesh Television (BTV) will broadcast the World Cup this time with the help of partner organizations, where no separate money will be spent by the government, it has been informed.
Information Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan gave this information in a WhatsApp group of sports journalists of the Information Ministry on Tuesday morning. He said that the World Cup matches will be broadcast on BTV for the country's viewers and an official announcement will be made in this regard very soon.
He also mentioned that several partner organizations will be involved in the broadcasting activities, due to which it will be possible to complete the entire event without using any public funds directly from the government.
BTV bought the broadcasting rights for the 2022 Qatar World Cup at a cost of about 98 crore taka. However, this time, it is known that plans have been made to broadcast the games through partnerships in a different model.
The Information Minister also said that with the cooperation of all parties concerned in this process, it has been possible to ensure the broadcast of the World Cup at a low cost.
Information Ministry sources said that an official press conference will be organized soon regarding the broadcast of the World Cup. However, as the minister is currently out of the country, the detailed announcement may be delayed a bit.
Meanwhile, relief has returned among football fans regarding the matter, because even at the last minute, the opportunity to watch the World Cup matches has been ensured for the viewers.
