In his 12th speech from the historic Red Fort premises on India's 79th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a strong message on economic reforms and border security at the same time.

In a speech lasting almost two and a half hours on Friday morning, he announced major reforms in the GST system. Modi claimed that the new tax structure will reduce business complexity, simplify the tax payment process and reduce the tax burden of the common man. He expressed hope that the reforms will be implemented before Diwali.

The Indian Prime Minister also took a strong stand on geopolitical issues. Citing the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, he directly accused Pakistan. Modi said that the terrorists who crossed the border killed innocent civilians by asking about religion - which has shocked the whole world.

After this incident, he also mentioned the conduct of 'Operation Sindoor' with full freedom to the Indian army. At the same time, Modi said in a stern voice, "Only India and Indian farmers have the right to India's water."

Many are viewing Modi's comments in the context of ongoing political tensions with neighboring countries over water sharing.
