A case has been filed in the court against Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) leader and content creator Nuruzzaman Kafi, his father and elder brother for attempting to seize school land, cutting soil to build a road and demanding extortion in Kalapara, Patuakhali.
Nuruzzaman Kafi's father ABM Habibur Rahman and elder brother Mamun have been named as accused in the case. Abdur Rahim, acting headmaster of Khepupara Government Model Secondary School, filed the case in the Kalapara Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court on Sunday (July 19).
The court has taken cognizance of the complaint and directed the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalapara Police Station to investigate the matter and submit a report.
Allegation of demanding extortion of Tk 10 lakh
The case alleges that on the morning of July 11, the accused entered the land owned by Khepupara Government Model Secondary School with a hoe, van, spade and other equipment.
According to the complaint, an attempt was made to cut the land and change its shape to build a road. Upon learning of the matter, the acting principal of the school went to the spot along with some teachers and stopped it.
The case claims that Nuruzzaman Kafi demanded a bribe of Tk 10 lakh from the principal. It is also alleged that he was intimidated and threatened when he refused to pay the bribe.
In addition, the case also mentions that soil was removed from a part of the school's land and an attempt was made to build a road there.
Kafi denies the allegations
However, Nuruzzaman Kafi has denied the allegations against him.
He claimed that the real owners of the land received a court verdict after a long legal process and that he signed an agreement to buy the land from them. According to him, the allegations are false and motivated.
Kafi also said that the real facts will come out if there is an impartial investigation.
The court has ordered Kalapara Police Station to investigate the case and submit a report. Details about the truth of the allegations will be known after the investigation.
