Accused 48 including two former MPs in Tk 10 crore extortion case

A case has been filed against 28 people including two former MPs of Awami League in Thakurgaon court on charges of Tk 10 crore extortion and land grabbing. Another 20 unidentified people were accused in that case.

Habibul Islam Bablu, son of deceased Abdur Razzak of Shibganj Parpugi village of Sadar Upazila filed the case in the judicial magistrate court on Tuesday (September 3). Later the judge of the court Rahima Khatun ordered to be recorded as a statement at the police station.

The accused are- former Awami League MP of Thakurgaon-2 Constituency Dabirul Islam, his son former MP Mazaharul Islam Sujan, Momirul Islam Sumon, former chairman of Baliadangi Upazila Parishad Shafikul Islam, chairman of Amjankhor Union Akalu Donga, president of Tanti League of the same upazila Sadekul Islam, Awami League Leader Kamruzzaman Shamim, Humayun Kabir son of Isaac Ali of Mahishmari village, Adam Ali son of deceased Taslim Uddin of Collegepara, Aminul Islam son of deceased Shamsul and Mominul Islam Bhasani of Bara Palashbari of Baliadangi upazila and Matin son of deceased Mofirat of Harinmari Sarkarpara.

Apart from this, Zulfikar Ali, son of deceased Rahman Ali of Belsara village, Fazle Rabbi Rubel, son of deceased Tahidul Islam of Bamunia Paria village, Jahangir Alam, son of Dabirul Islam of Rangatli Bhanor village, Lajib Uddin Kalthu, son of deceased Akalu of Moral Basti village of Amjankhor union, Udaipur Baganbari village of the same union. Munchur, son of Jharua, Azhar Ali, son of deceased Idrish Ali of Kashidanga village, Ashraful, son of Khatibat of Harinmari Sarkarpara village, Arju Liton, son of Mozafar Rahman of Sarbamangala Barabari village, Abu Shaheen, son of Shaheed of Barapalashbari East Baragachia village, Lablu, son of Elias of Charigti village, Baliadangi Upazila, Dogachi Charol village deceased. Zillur Rahman, son of Kofizul Haque, Rafiq Bdr, son of deceased Ulfat Uddin of Bhangatuli Bhano area, Shahjahan, son of deceased Zakir Hossain of village of Amjankhor, Abdur Razzak, son of Abdus Sobhan of village Baliadangi, Babu, son of Akalu Donga of Mahatbasti village of Amjankhor union, Jasimudd of Ratnai Maradhar village of Amjankhor union of Yin Son Taju member. Apart from this, a case was filed against 20 other unidentified people.

Habibul Islam Bablu, the plaintiff in the case, said that there is 90 acres of land in Baliadangi upazila. Out of it, 20 acres are occupied, the remaining land is occupied by the defendants in the case. I hope to get justice through the court.

District Bar Association President Zainal Abedin said that the case has been taken into consideration and treated as a police report. We hope that the police will register the case and bring the accused under the law.
