Escaped prisoners are returning to Satkhira District Jail

Part of the prisoners who came out of Satkhira District Jail started coming back from Tuesday morning. However, the authorities did not provide accurate information about how many returned. The angry mob attacked and vandalized Satkhira Jail at around seven o'clock on Monday morning. At one point they took out all the accused and the prisoners.
According to Satkhira Jail sources, there were 596 prisoners till yesterday. Eyewitnesses said that around 6:30 p.m. yesterday, hundreds of people entered the Satkhira jail by climbing the Panchil gate. Later they broke the first gate of the prison and broke into the cells and general wards and took out the prisoners.
On Tuesday around nine in the morning, it can be seen on the ground that the first gate has been tied with a rope. There stands a man in white. On condition of anonymity, he said that many convicts and prisoners have started returning from early today. Around 200 convicts and prisoners have already returned.
During the attack yesterday, ticket counter, canteen, watchtower and windows of various buildings were vandalized. Two burnt motorcycles were seen lying outside the prison compound. Apart from this, the prison is also empty. Its rice, pulses and other food items were looted by the attackers.
An accused, who did not want to be named, said that some people broke the lock of the prison and asked them to come out. Then he also left the prison.
Satkhira District Commissioner Mohammad Humayun Kabir said that all the accused were released from Satkhira jail on Monday evening. Heard that some convicts and prisoners have returned this Tuesday morning. But how many have returned, he can tell later.
