Former Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) chief Mohammad Harun Ur Rashid's 'Bhater Hotel' was once widely discussed on social media. Political leaders, celebrities, businessmen and people from various professions used to eat there with Harun. But today, there is a nationwide sensation surrounding that 'Bhater Hotel'—that hotel was actually a 'kingdom of hidden wealth'!
An investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has revealed that Harun Ur Rashid and his family have assets worth hundreds of crores of taka in different parts of the country. Starting from Uttara in the capital, Savar, Gazipur, Teknaf, Khagrachari, and even Banani, there are lands, houses, and businesses in his name.
Three corruption cases, the main allegation is 41 crore taka—investigation reveals information on assets worth thousands of crore taka!
Harun has been on the run since the fall of the Awami League government on August 5. After that, the ACC filed three cases against him, his wife Shirin Akhter, and brother ABM Shahriar on charges of acquiring illegal assets.
In Harun's name: 17 crore 51 lakh taka
In his wife Shirin's name: 10 crore 76 lakh taka
In his brother Shahriar's name: 12 crore 96 lakh taka
But as the investigation goes deeper, one after another sensational information is coming out. ACC investigators claim that the amount of this family's assets has exceeded thousands of crore taka.
More than 18 properties in Uttara alone, a market worth 80 crore, a house worth 30 crore!
House No. 14 on Road No. 9 in Sector 3, Uttara, ‘Ha-Meem’ was owned by Harun. It was sold for Tk 40 crore to businessman Golam Hasnain Hiron—who is known to be close to Harun for a long time.
Some notable properties:
8-storey house (value: approximately Tk 30 crore)
10-storey market (value: approximately Tk 80 crore)
At least 18 lands and structures in different sectors of Uttara
Showrooms, flats and under-construction commercial buildings in Sectors 13, 14, 15
In addition, he owns many flats and plots near Zamzam Tower in Uttara and in other areas.
Corruption spreads outside the capital as well—resorts, factories, land, shares!
The list of assets outside the capital is also not short.

Savar: Shares in Nandan Park
Nikunja: Travel agency
Tongi: Unauthorized JX Geotex Factory
Ashulia: Resort under construction in Chhayakunja project
Banani: 20 katha land sold for 70 crores

Property seized and bank accounts blocked—one court order after another
According to ACC sources, attempts were being made to secretly sell or transfer the assets of Harun and his family. As a result, the following have been seized on an urgent court order:
Five buildings, two flats
100 bighas of land
10 bank accounts (Tk 1.26 crore)
Wife and brother's bank accounts and company shares
Investigation is underway, is it just a matter of time before they are caught?
The official discussed by DB is now known as the mastermind of corruption worth thousands of crores of taka. This world of wealth created behind the scenes of the 'rice hotel' that shook social media is now under the watchful eye of the ACC and the administration.
Let's see if Harun Ur Rashid is finally caught or not—or if this story of hidden treasure turns into a longer drama.
