The family of Enamul Haque Molla, an independent MP candidate for Gazipur-3 (part of Sripur-Sadar) constituency, has held a press conference demanding his immediate release following the arrest of the BNP leader and independent MP candidate for Gazipur-3 (part of Sripur-Sadar) in a joint operation in the Barkul area of Barmi Union in Sreepur Upazila of Gazipur.
Enamul Haque Molla's wife Shamima Sultana and other family members, including his brother, spoke at a press conference organized at their home in Barkul village of Barmi Union of Sreepur on Thursday (November 6) afternoon.
At the press conference, they alleged that Enamul Haque Molla's popularity as an independent candidate for Gazipur-3 constituency in the upcoming national parliamentary elections has been increasing day by day, so his opponents have planned to arrest him as part of political revenge and conspiracy.
They said, “Enamul Haque Molla is not involved in any crime. He has been framed in a false arms case. We demand his unconditional release.”
At the press conference, Enamul Haque Molla’s wife alleged that the joint forces turned off the CCTV camera of the house during the search and later broke the DVR hard disk and other components. She claimed that cash, gold ornaments and some important documents were also lost during the operation.
It is worth noting that the joint forces conducted a raid in Barkul village on Thursday morning based on a secret tip-off and arrested seven people including Enamul Haque Molla. During this time, two pistols, three magazines, four rounds of bullets, four walkie-talkies, four batons, two electric shock machines, a hammer nail gun and a knife were recovered, according to the police.
