Shiba Shanu condemns Pori Moni’s conduct in incident involving harassment of a journalist

Shiba Shanu, President of the Bangladesh Film Artists' Association, has condemned the behavior of film actress Pori Moni following an incident at the court premises where a journalist was harassed and his mobile phone was seized. He stated that it is unacceptable for an artist—or anyone else—to lay hands on a journalist.
Expressing his reaction on Friday (November 6), Shiba Shanu remarked that such conduct is entirely inappropriate for a professional artist. He added that incidents of this nature also negatively impact the image of the film community.
As President of the Artists' Association, he emphasized that he does not want any artist to be involved in such incidents or to find themselves in such situations. He further called for the maintenance of mutual respect, harmony, and goodwill between journalists and artists.
According to Shiba Shanu, such incidents diminish the standing of artists within society. As an artist himself, he expressed his regret over the occurrence.
What transpired at the court premises?
The incident took place on the morning of Thursday (November 5). Pori Moni had arrived at the court to surrender and seek bail in a case filed by Nasir Uddin Mahmud. Upon reaching the court premises around 9:30 AM, she reacted with visible anger toward the journalists present.
During this time, an unpleasant situation arose involving Rabiul Hossain Raju, a multimedia journalist for the daily *Samakal*, and it is alleged that his mobile phone was snatched away.
Allegations have been leveled not only against Pori Moni but also against the members of her security detail (bouncers) who were present with her. In addition to the accusations of physical assault against journalists, there are also reports that the head of an individual named Sujan Chandra—who was at the court seeking justice—was split open during the altercation.
However, the report does not provide specific details regarding what legal steps, if any, have been taken in response to these allegations.
