5 killed, more than 20 injured in Sitakunda road accident

Five people were killed when a passenger bus lost control and fell into a ditch in Sitakunda. More than 20 others were seriously injured. At least ten of the injured are in critical condition. The accident occurred in the Battala area of Sitakunda at 5:50 pm on Sunday.
According to local and police sources, the driver of the local bus named CDM, which left Dhaka, lost control when it reached the Battala area. At that time, the bus collided with a drum truck standing on the side of the road and fell into a nearby ditch.
The surviving passenger of the bus, Masud, who had boarded the bus from Dhaka, said that the recklessly speeding bus suddenly started making random turns. Before we could understand anything, the bus hit the parked truck. After that, we fell into the ditch along with the bus. 5 people were killed on the spot.
Upon receiving the news of the accident, the Sitakunda Fire Service quickly rescued the injured and sent them to the Upazila Health The injured were taken to the complex. One died while undergoing treatment.
Dr. Sharmin, in-charge of the emergency department of Sitakunda Upazila Health Complex, said that at least 20 injured patients were treated here. 15 of them have been sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. Most of the injured have suffered head injuries and the condition of at least 10 is critical.
Two of the five deceased have been identified. One is Kamal, his home is in Chagalnaiya. The other is Saha Alam's Bori in Comilla. He was working at the Young One factory in Chittagong.
The names of some of the injured have been identified. Among them, Ibrahim's home is Chandanaish, Rinku's is Mitachhara, Arnab's is Mitachhara, Jahangir's is Feni, Nayan and Orukne's are in Rani Nath's GPH area of Sitakunda. The identities of the other injured have not been found.
In-charge of Kumira Highway Police Station Zakir Rabbani confirmed the death of 5 people. He said that among them, Four people died on the spot. The other was declared dead by doctors after being taken to Sitakunda Medical Hospital. All the deceased were men.
