Attempt to seize children's assets after death of former journalist in Jhalakathi

After the death of former member of Jhalakathi Press Club and district correspondent of Daily Bhorer Kagoj and Desh TV Moniruzzaman Monir, family members have been accused of trying to embezzle about 1.4 million taka and two vehicles of 'Dhansiri Paribahan' left in the name of his children.
Allegations of attempt to seize ancestral property
According to the complaint, after Moniruzzaman Monir's death in 2013, his wife Sharmin Akhter and two children have been living a subhuman life. Before his death, he left the mentioned money and two transport vehicles thinking about the future of his children.
However, Moniruzzaman's wife has alleged that his elder brother Abul Bashar Shamim and Shamim's son Sayidul Bashar are trying to embezzle these assets through various methods out of greed.
Sharmin Akhter claims that her brother-in-law Shamim fraudulently obtained signatures on various white papers, non-judicial stamps and tried to seize property by claiming her as his 'wife' by using a fake ID. She further alleged that Shamim fraudulently seized two Dhansiri Paribahan vehicles.
Complaint at the police station, but no action
Sharmin Akhter filed a GD No. 1380 with the Jhalakathi police station on July 28 in this incident. However, the family claims that the police have filed a 'fabricated report' on behalf of the accused, which has further disappointed the journalist's family.
Sharmin Akhter said,
"I and my children have been repeatedly threatened with death if I ask for the money left by my husband back. They have even threatened to attack and abuse me when I come to their house."
The allegation takes on a more sensational form
Information investigation revealed that the accused Abul Bashar Shamim has not only tried to use financial assets, but also his brother's wife as his own wife through a fake marriage certificate. There have even been allegations of blackmailing an acquaintance of his and sending objectionable pictures on Messenger and WhatsApp.
Statement of another family member
Former chairman and another brother of Moniruzzaman, Abul Kalam Masum, told reporters,
"The fraudster Shamim is trying to grab about one crore forty lakh taka, which is due to younger brother Moniruzzaman as part of the property left by our father. Even though we have repeatedly asked the family to return the money and car, he is continuing on the path of fraud."
He urged the administration and the journalist community to take appropriate legal action.
Statement of the accused
When contacted by the accused Abul Bashar Shamim, he told reporters,
"The car and money have been registered in the names of the children through the bank. Everything will be explained soon."
However, when asked about Kabin's relationship with Sharmin Akhter, he quickly hung up the phone without giving a clear answer.
