Vandalism in Khagrachhari canal excavation project, miscreants set fire to excavator at night

A digger used in a government-run canal excavation project was set on fire in Guimara, Khagrachhari. It has been alleged that miscreants set fire to the heavy machinery used in the Pilak canal excavation work in Hafchhari Union late on Thursday night. This has created a sensation in the area.
According to local sources, it is not yet confirmed who or what committed the incident in the dark of night. Hafchhari Union Parishad Panel Chairman and Pilak Canal Excavation Committee Project President Angyajoy Marma said that miscreants set fire to the digger and fled in the middle of the night. This has created a fear of disruption to the project work.
After the incident, Miskatul Tamanna visited the scene on Friday morning. He said that the excavation work of Pilak canal has started since April 28 and several parts of the work have already been completed. He also said that legal action will be taken against those involved in the incident.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Sohrawardy said that the police have started working to identify those involved in the arson incident and bring them to justice. Investigations are underway at the scene and the matter is being taken seriously.
