Hollywood Oscar-winning director Christopher Nolan has announced that he will be taking a long break after finishing work on his new film 'The Odyssey'. He has announced his plan to stay away from filmmaking for at least three years due to the ongoing production schedule.
In a recent interview with the US media outlet Today, Nolan said that making 'The Odyssey' was a very long and complex experience. He and his entire team went through a lot of physical and mental stress while working on this project.
According to Nolan, it was not easy to turn the famous epic poem of the ancient Greek poet Homer into a film. He also commented that it is not possible to portray such a huge story on the screen without major challenges.
'The Odyssey' also carries special importance from a technical point of view. Nolan said that this is the first full-length film that has been shot entirely on large-format cameras.
Call to take risks in original stories
In another interview with the New York Times, Nolan criticized the current Hollywood studios' reluctance to take risks.
He said that audiences are still eager to see new, original and ambitious stories. Therefore, filmmakers need to take creative risks to be successful.
‘The Odyssey’ to feature a star-studded cast
Based on Homer’s timeless epic, ‘The Odyssey’ tells the story of the heroic warrior Odysseus’ long and dangerous journey home after the Trojan War.
The film stars Matt Damon in the lead role. It also stars popular stars such as Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron.
After winning multiple awards, including Best Director at the Oscars, Nolan’s new film has generated great interest among audiences and critics.
