The fall in gold prices in the international market has also affected the domestic market. As a result, the price of gold per bhori has fallen by 8,386 taka. There have been very few examples of such a drop in price at once in recent times.
However, despite the price reduction, the price of a good quality bhori of gold is still more than 2 lakh taka. The price of 22-carat gold at the new price stands at 2,08,996 taka. This new price will be effective from Thursday (October 23).
The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) gave this information in a notification on Wednesday (October 22) night. The notification said that the selling price of gold has been adjusted due to the decline in the price of pure gold in the local market.
The notification also mentioned that 5% government-determined VAT and 6% minimum wage will have to be added to the selling price of gold. However, the wage may change depending on the design and quality of the jewelry.
Gold price as per new rate:
22 carat: 2,08,996 taka per bhor
21 carat: 1,99,501 taka per bhor
18 carat: 1,70,994 taka per bhor
Traditional method: 1,42,219 taka per bhor
The price of silver has also decreased along with gold. The price of one bhor of 22 carat silver has decreased by 5,470 taka.
