In Kurigram, an awareness meeting was held about the vaccination program of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) to prevent cervical cancer among teenagers.

The meeting was held in the hall of Kurigram Government Girls' High School on Tuesday (October 22) afternoon organized by the District Information Office. Forty students, parents and teachers from different upazilas of Kurigram district participated in the meeting. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Uttam Kumar Roy spoke as the chief guest in the meeting presided over by District Information Officer Shahjahan Ali.

In addition, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. was present as a special guest. ANM Golam Mohaimen, Kurigram Government College Assistant Professor Elias Ahmed, Islamic Foundation Deputy Director Maruf Raihan, World Health Organization Surveillance and Immunization Medical Officer Dr. Azizul Haque Tanzil, UNICEF SBC Officer Manzoor Ahmed, Kurigram Government Girls High School Principal Tushar Kumar Ranjit and others. The meeting focused on ways and benefits of HPV vaccination to prevent cervical cancer. It is to be noted that free HPV vaccination will be provided to 5th-9th class girls and 10-14 years old out-of-school girls in Kurigram initially from October 24.
