American astronaut Sunita Williams is practically stuck in the International Space Station. She is currently on the International Space Station. She set a new record in the new year. Sunita, Butch Wilmer and other astronauts saw 16 sunrises and sunsets while sitting there.

In a post on her X handle, Sunita wrote that she considers herself lucky to have such a feeling as the year 2024 is ending. It feels different to be able to share such an experience from outside the world. Sunita and Butch have been stuck in the International Space Station for almost eight months. They spent the New Year there, along with celebrating other festivals. The space station is about 418 kilometers above the Earth. It revolves around the Earth at a speed of about 28,160 kilometers per hour.

In terms of numbers, the International Space Station is going around the Earth once every 90 minutes. As a result, the space station orbits the Earth 16 times a day. That's why astronauts on the space station see sunrises and sunsets 16 times a day.

Williams and Wilmore went to the International Space Station in June last year for an eight-day mission. The crew has been sending messages to their friends and family on Earth periodically.

Williams, Wilmore, astronaut Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Alexander Gorbunov will return to Earth after the four-member Crew-10 mission arrives at the space station, the agency said.
