Pakistan's security forces have claimed that they have shot down an Indian surveillance drone in the Manawan area of Lahore. According to a Geo News report on Friday (August 8), the security forces detected the drone's movement and hit the target after it entered Pakistani airspace. Since there were no explosives in the drone, it is believed that it was only used for surveillance activities.
The recent bloody conflict between India and Pakistan ended on May 10. Despite apparent peace on the border, tensions between the two countries have risen again after an Indian drone flew over Pakistani airspace. Pakistan's intelligence agency said that it was undoubtedly an Indian surveillance drone. However, India has not commented on this.
On the other hand, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed the use of Israeli weapons in the India-Pakistan conflict. He said that the Indian army used various advanced weapons, including Israeli-made Harfi drones and missiles, in the war, and these weapons have proven effective on the battlefield.
Although the conflict has stopped, the political and diplomatic war of words between the two countries continues. When Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the fight against terrorism would continue, Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) chief Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry warned that if India carries out any aggression in the future, Pakistan will directly retaliate against India's commercial areas. He mentioned economic hubs such as Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Ranchi as possible targets.
Meanwhile, the United States has claimed its role in ending the India-Pakistan conflict. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a speech on Thursday local time that Washington played an active role in the ceasefire between the two countries and called former President Donald Trump a 'President of Peace'. However, India still rejects third-party mediation to resolve the conflict with Pakistan.
