US President Donald Trump said that Chinese President Xi Jinping is pleased with the opening or imminent opening of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway in the Middle East. He made the announcement in a recent message.
In the message on social media, Trump mentioned that the opening of the Strait of Hormuz is positive for China and that the country's leadership is happy with it. At the same time, he also talked about his upcoming visit to China and said that his meeting with the Chinese president could be special and potentially historic.
He also said that he is eagerly waiting for the meeting with Xi Jinping and hopes that important progress will be achieved through this meeting.
Meanwhile, Iran has said that the Strait of Hormuz has not been fully opened normally; rather, it has only been opened under the terms of a ceasefire and in compliance with certain conditions. A spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Defense confirmed this information.
He warned that no military ship or vehicle belonging to the enemy will be allowed to use the strait. His statement suggests that the situation is still sensitive and new tensions could arise at any time.
According to analysts, the functioning of the Strait of Hormuz is crucial for global trade, especially energy supplies. Therefore, the position of the countries concerned on this issue can have a major impact on international politics.
