US President Donald Trump's Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer has resigned amid allegations of misconduct and investigation. The White House confirmed her resignation on Monday local time.
It is reported that her resignation came amid multiple controversies, including allegations regarding her treatment of female workers. An investigation was already underway into the matter, which is seen as a major reason behind her resignation.
President Trump's spokesman Steven Cheung said in a message that Lori Chavez-DeRemer is leaving the administration to join the private sector. At the same time, he claimed that she played an important role in protecting workers and implementing labor laws.
In a statement after her resignation, Lori Chavez-DeRemer expressed gratitude to President Trump and pledged to continue working for the welfare of workers in the future.
It is worth noting that several cabinet members have been removed from their posts before during the second term of the Trump administration. Kristi Noem was fired last March for failing to manage immigration. In addition, Pam Bondi was also removed from office in early April due to allegations of failure to manage the justice department and the handling of controversial documents.
According to analysts, these series of events indicate stress and instability within the Trump administration, which could have significant political implications in the future.
