The UN Special Envoy for Palestine, Francesca Albanese, has called the Israeli army the world’s most morally depraved and reprehensible force. She made the strong comments after watching a video of a Palestinian child being tortured in a recent social media video.
In her speech, she said that the actions of the Israeli army have crossed all limits of humanity and are routinely violating international law. Her comments have sparked a new strong reaction in the international arena.
Earlier, in an official report on the situation in Gaza, she alleged that the military operation there had created a situation resembling serious human rights violations and ethnic persecution. Since the publication of that report, she has faced severe criticism and threats from various quarters.
In an interview, Albanese said that her safety is now at serious risk and that she lives in constant fear. He described the current situation as a difficult time of uncertainty and pressure.
He added that the actions of Israeli forces were not only undermining the rights of Palestinians, but also challenging the international justice system. In particular, there was strong condemnation from around the world after the allegations and release of videos of child abuse.
Albanese warned that the situation could become even more dire if the international community did not take swift and effective action. However, he pledged to continue his work of revealing the truth despite threats and pressure and to continue his stand for justice for the Palestinians.
