The 'Cockroach Janata Party' (CJP) is preparing for another round of protests demanding the resignation of India's Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar. Leaders of the organization have approached the police to finalize a date for a peaceful demonstration at Delhi's Jantar Mantar. They have also given the Delhi Police a 24-hour deadline to convey their decision regarding this matter.

On Monday (October 12), CJP representatives—including co-conveners Sourav Das and Ashutosh Ranka—visited the Parliament Street Police Station in Delhi. They contacted the police to seek permission and a specific date for organizing the new protest. This information was reported by the *Hindustan Times*.
According to CJP co-convener Ashutosh Ranka, Jantar Mantar is a designated protest site in India. He also noted that the Constitution grants citizens the right to protest peacefully.
Meanwhile, Sourav Das stated that, in light of the police requirement to apply at least 10 days in advance, they wish to leave the responsibility of fixing the date to the police this time.
However, the CJP has set a 24-hour deadline for finalizing the date of the new protest. Leaders have announced that if the police fail to communicate a decision within this timeframe, the organization will announce a new protest on its own initiative.

Previously, on October 10, the organization had staged a protest against the Chief Election Commissioner at Jantar Mantar. The protesters have been demanding Gyanesh Kumar's resignation, alleging irregularities in the voter list revision process. Tensions arose between the police and the protesters during the event, leading to the detention of numerous activists, including several leaders.
Separately, a petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court demanding an independent inquiry into the alleged police assault on protesters in the Jantar Mantar and Connaught Place areas on October 10.
The petition seeks directives for the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to complete the probe within a specific timeframe and for the preservation of relevant CCTV footage. The court has agreed to hear the matter on Tuesday (October 13). A hearing is also scheduled for another petition challenging the decision to ban the use of Jantar Mantar for peaceful protests on the same day.
The High Court noted that the matter is currently under the consideration of the Supreme Court of India.
Amidst this situation, the protesters are keeping a close watch on the permission for CJP's new programme and the court's upcoming decision.
