An Indian expatriate mother has committed suicide after throwing her five-year-old daughter to death from a 22nd floor building in the United Arab Emirates, local media reported.
According to Gulf News, the tragic incident took place on Wednesday (May 23) in a high-rise residential building in the Al-Nadha area. The bodies of the woman and the child were recovered from below the building.
According to eyewitnesses and building security personnel, the 35-year-old woman first threw her five-year-old daughter from the top of the building. Then she herself jumped from the same building. Both died on the spot.
Building security personnel said that after hearing a loud noise, they went outside and saw the lifeless bodies of the mother and child lying there. The police and emergency services were immediately informed. The police arrived and surrounded the entire area and started an investigation.
According to initial information, the building is 32 stories high. There is parking and a gym on the lower few floors, followed by the residential unit. It is believed that the mother and child fell from a higher flat in the building at the time of the incident.
According to local sources, the woman's husband was working in Dubai. A day before the incident, there was a domestic dispute between the couple, after which the police also went to the spot. The husband alleged that his wife was mentally ill.
Police said that the incident is under investigation and all aspects are being looked into.
