‘I love Modi. Modi is great, he is my friend’: Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump has praised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the phone during a special event organized in Delhi to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. He called Modi his ‘close friend’ and conveyed the message of strengthening India-US relations.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore were present at the event organized in Delhi on Sunday (May 24). While speaking on the phone on the big screen of the event, Trump praised Modi’s leadership and said that the relationship between the two countries is closer than at any time in history.
Trump said that India can have complete confidence in the United States. He also assured that the United States will be there with all kinds of cooperation if needed. His speech indicates that the diplomatic and strategic relations between the two countries will deepen further.
Trump also highlighted his country’s economic progress and the success of the stock market at the event. At the same time, he also praised the work of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
On the other hand, Marco Rubio, who is visiting India, said that an important trade agreement between India and the United States is moving towards the final stage. According to him, this agreement will have a positive impact on the long term for both countries.
It is also reported that in the meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, detailed discussions were held on defense cooperation, energy security, important mineral resources and trade.
Meanwhile, discussions are underway in diplomatic circles that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may be invited to visit the White House in the future, which could give a new dimension to the relations between the two countries.
