Ignoring the call for a ceasefire, Israeli forces have launched a new attack on southern Lebanon. According to local media, at least 16 people, including women and children, were killed in airstrikes and shelling in several areas including Nabatieh. Several others were injured.
According to the Lebanese state news agency, attacks were carried out overnight in several border areas including Nabatieh, Kafar Juz, Kafar Reman, and Zebdin. Later, airstrikes were also carried out in the Kafar Tibnit and Rayhan Pahar areas. Several residential buildings and roads were also targeted.
The Israeli military claimed that the operation was carried out to target Hezbollah positions and infrastructure. According to them, they launched the attack in response to the ceasefire violation. However, the Lebanese side described the attack as one of the most intense attacks in recent times.
After the attack on Nabatieh and surrounding areas, panic has spread among the general public. Local authorities are carrying out rescue operations and relief efforts in the affected areas. The renewed attacks, despite the ceasefire, have raised concerns about further escalation in the region.
