An organization representing the country's Muslim community has expressed concern over the attack on a mosque imam in the city of Victoria, Canada. It has called the incident an anti-Muslim attack and demanded a prompt investigation.
According to the organization, Imam Sheikh Ibrahim was in his car after leading prayers at a local mosque. At that time, a man allegedly approached his car and physically attacked him.
It was reported, citing witnesses, that during the attack, the man made anti-Muslim comments and said various insulting words to the imam. The Muslim organization said that it is working in coordination with the relevant authorities to ensure the safety of the victim after the incident.
The leaders of the organization said that targeting someone because of their religious identity is in no way acceptable. They believe that such incidents highlight a worrying picture of the hatred and intolerance that exists in society.
Law enforcement agencies have been called upon to conduct a full investigation into the incident. In particular, it has been demanded to investigate whether the attack falls under the category of hate crime.
However, detailed information about the action taken against the suspect involved in the incident and the current physical condition of the injured imam has not yet been released.
