US President Donald Trump has claimed that Turkey could have directly engaged in a conflict during the US-Israeli tensions over Iran. According to him, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was ready to take a stand on Iran's side, but he stayed away from the war after a personal request.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said that the situation in the Middle East could have become more complicated. He claimed that there were concerns about Turkey's position in particular.

According to Trump, there was a fear of Turkey's direct involvement because Erdogan is a critic of Israel's policy. However, he himself contacted Erdogan and urged him not to get involved in the conflict.

The US president also said that after his request, the Turkish president played a role in keeping the situation calm. He also mentioned Erdogan as an influential leader.

Meanwhile, Trump also talked about Turkey's defense capabilities. He gave positive indications about Turkey's interest in the F-35 fighter jet and jet engines. In his words, there is a possibility of doing something that can satisfy Ankara.

Trump also expressed interest in participating in the next NATO summit. He said that he may attend the summit to be held in Ankara out of respect for Erdogan.

However, according to analysts, Trump's statement is currently being seen as a political demand. Because there has been no official announcement from Turkey to go to war directly on behalf of Iran.
