The interim government has brought major changes in the recruitment of assistant teachers in government primary schools. The ‘Government Primary School Teacher Recruitment Rules, 2025’ issued by the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education on Thursday came into effect, immediately canceling the old rules of 2019.

The biggest change in the new rules has been in the women's quota. Although there was a separate quota for women until now, it has been canceled. Instead, a 7 percent reserved quota has been kept, which will be equally applicable to all candidates.

The recruitment of assistant teachers will be conducted in two stages - written and oral.

Written Test:

Bengali – 25 marks

English – 25 marks

Mathematics – 20 marks

Daily Science and General Knowledge (Bangladesh and International Affairs) – 20 marks
Total Written Marks: 90
Time: 90 minutes
Pass Marks: 45 (50 percent of the total)

Oral Test:
Total Marks: 10
Pass Marks: 5
Time: Not specified

Recruitment Process

Only candidates who pass the written test will get the opportunity to participate in the oral test. The final appointment will be made on the basis of a total of 100 marks in two stages.

Recruitment Notice Ahead

According to the Department of Primary Education, preparations are underway to publish the recruitment notice after the new rules come into effect. Recruitment notices for about 13,500 vacant posts of assistant teachers in primary schools may be published this August.

With the new rules coming into effect, it can be said that the structure of the written and oral tests for the recruitment of teachers in primary schools will be more specific and competitive in the future.
