Students of Bangabandhu Textile Engineering College block the highway demanding appointment of principal.

Students blocked the Mymensingh-Tangail highway and protested to demand the appointment of a principal in Bangabandhu Textile Engineering College. The students expressed anger as the post of principal was lying vacant for long and demanded immediate appointment of a permanent principal. On September 15, they blocked the highway in front of Bagutia bus stand for two hours from 11 am to 1 pm. With banners and festoons in their hands, they chanted slogans several times and made the whole area resound.

Movement for students' demands
Students complain that due to lack of principal, the administrative activities of the college are being disrupted, which is affecting the quality of education. For a long time, they have been promised to solve this problem but it has not been implemented, so they have chosen the path of blockade under compulsion. The students said that their agitation will continue until a permanent principal is appointed.
Traffic jams on highways and suffering of passengers
The blockade caused a long traffic jam spanning nearly 6 km, causing severe suffering to commuters. Especially the passengers who are busy to reach their destination suffer a lot. To bring the situation under control, the local administration and police reached the spot and discussed with the students and normalized the traffic.
Meeting with administration
After the siege at 1:30 PM, Kalihati Upazila Administration Assistant Commissioner (Lands) Sifat Bin Sadek and Kalihati Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abul Kalam a 10-member delegation of students Misbah ul Haque, Masood Sikdar, Sohaibul Islam, Abdul Mateen, Abdullah Al Mamun, Ashraful Islam. , Mehdi Hasan, Umme Jahan, Dilroba Tream held a one-hour meeting in the conference room of BTech. In the meeting, the demands of the students were taken into serious consideration and promised to appoint a principal soon.

The students claimed in the meeting that it is difficult to implement the education system until the principal is appointed. They called for immediate improvement of the situation by appointing a qualified principal. The administration has assured them that this problem will be solved very soon.
