Convenor of the anti-discrimination student movement Hasnat Abdullah made an extreme comment while attending the funeral of martyr Abul Kashem at the Central Shaheed Minar on Wednesday night. He said, "I will ban Awami League," and called on the interim government to immediately ban Awami League.
At the time, Hasnat said, "We are responsible for Kashem's blood. We swear, we will ban Awami League." He also said, "For 40 years, Awami League has been robbing people's rights, committing various crimes including disappearances, murder, assassination, rape. This party can no longer be tolerated."

Hasnat's comment was an expression of anger and protest over the death of Abul Kashem, who died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital after being injured by Awami League workers in Gazipur.

A coffin procession started from the central Shaheed Minar at 9:30 pm, where students chanted slogans demanding the trial and banning of the Awami League. ‘My brother’s blood, I will not let it go in vain,’ ‘Mujibabad Murdabad,’ and ‘Awami League should be banned, it must be done’ were the slogans of the procession.

Leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement gathered at the Shaheed Minar to join their coffin procession and intensified their protest against the Awami League.

Meanwhile, regarding the Gazipur incident on Wednesday, Hasnat Abdullah claimed, “This is a major failure of our pro-democracy and anti-fascist movement, which we cannot deal with through legal means alone. Banning the Awami League is the only way out.”

And, after the funeral of martyr Abul Kashem, tributes were paid to his sacrifice by participating in the protest and procession.
