Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh has announced a new program to achieve and protect the fair rights of women. The organization's Secretary General Sajidur Rahman announced the program at a grand gathering organized at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on Saturday (May 3).
The Secretary General said, "Conferences will be held at the divisional level within the next three months to demand the establishment of women's rights. In addition, a nationwide protest procession will be organized after Friday prayers on May 23."
The grand gathering, which began at 9 am, was presided over by Hefazat's Ameer Allama Shah Muhibullah Babunagari. The program was conducted by the organization's central leader Azizul Haque Islamabadi and Mufti Kefayet Ullah Azhari.
The grand gathering was officially declared over at 1:11 pm with a prayer led by the Ameer.
Hefazat's central Nayeb-e-Amir Mahmudur Hasan Qashemi, Nayeb-e-Amir Ahmed Qashemi, Joint Secretary General Mamunul Haque and Jatiya Nagorik Party's southern coordinator Hasnat Abdullah also spoke at the rally.
Hefazat said that their main goal is to create public awareness and attract the government's attention through peaceful programs to ensure women's rights.
Discussions have already started in the political and social arenas around this program.
