Bangladesh Air Force training plane crashes in Uttara, casualties feared

A Bangladesh Air Force training plane crashed near Milestone College in Uttara, the capital. The accident occurred on Monday afternoon. Although casualties are feared, no confirmed information has been received about the casualties yet.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the crashed plane was an F-7 BGI model training plane. It took off at 1:06 pm. Shortly after, it encountered problems in the sky over the Milestone College area of Uttara and crashed.

Immediately after the incident, a video went viral on social media, showing the plane catching fire. However, the authenticity or details of the video are not yet confirmed.

After 2 pm, the Fire Service control room informed that 8 units sent from Uttara, Tongi, Pallabi, Kurmitola, Mirpur, and Purbachal fire stations were working at the scene. Efforts are underway to bring the fire under control.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Uttara Division Deputy Police Commissioner Mohidul Islam said, “I heard five minutes ago that a training plane crashed in the Milestone College area. I am now going to the spot and trying to confirm the matter.”

Lima Khanam, duty officer at the Fire Service control room, said, “We received information at 1:18 pm that a plane crashed near Uttara Milestone College. Three units are working at the spot and two more units are on the road. We do not know the details yet.”

An investigation is underway to find out the exact cause of the incident and whether any pilots or civilians were injured.
