Jobra violence: CU Chhatra Dal demands resignation of administration

The university's Chhatra Dal has staged a fierce protest demanding the resignation of the vice-chancellor and proctoral body at Chittagong University (CU). At a rally held at the intellectual square at 12 noon on Tuesday, students raised various slogans—'One point, one demand, the administration's resignation', 'Discrimination in the name of education will not continue' and 'My brother's blood will not be wasted'.
The Chhatra Dal alleged that the university administration has completely failed to ensure the safety of students. Despite repeated attacks on students in various clashes starting from the Jobra area, the administration has not taken any effective action.
Chhatra Dal CU President Alauddin Mohsin said, "This administration has failed. Students are shedding blood on the streets, while the administration is busy in the recruitment business sitting in the building. If the administration had taken quick action in the clashes that night, our brothers would not have had to be hospitalized. No one has been arrested so far, and there is no visible action."
Organizing Secretary Sajjad Hossain Hridoy added, “Although the locals are responsible, the biggest responsibility lies with the university administration. Ever since we were admitted, we have seen residents of Jobra area attacking students. Even after the July movement, the administration did not pay attention to our demands. As a result, today's heinous incident has occurred.”
The Chhatra Dal has demanded the immediate resignation of the administration and has called on the government to give temporary responsibility to someone who will be sincere about the safety and demands of the students.
Earlier, at 8 pm on Monday, students and leaders and activists of various student organizations gathered in front of the university administrative building and participated in a protest rally.
