All shooting spots and resorts in Gazipur closed for four days for election security

The Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) has ordered that all shooting spots, resorts and entertainment centers in Gazipur metropolis and upazilas be closed for four days to ensure a smooth and peaceful completion of the 13th National Parliament Election and referendum.
A public notice in this regard was issued on Thursday (February 5) night. The public notice stated that under the powers granted under Section 31 of the Police Act 2018, all shooting spots, resorts and entertainment centers located in the electoral area of Gazipur metropolis will be closed from 12 noon on February 10 to 12 noon on February 14.
The public notice further stated that any kind of activities and public gatherings in these establishments will be completely prohibited during the mentioned period. Strict action will be taken against those concerned as per the prevailing law if the instructions are not followed.
Police said that this decision has been taken to avoid unwanted crowding, chaos and security risks during the election and to keep the voting process uninterrupted.
In this regard, Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Israel Hawlader said, there are many hotels, resorts and shooting spots scattered in Gazipur. If people gather in these places during the election period, an undesirable situation can arise. That is why it has been decided to close these establishments two days before the election and two days after the election.
It is worth noting that there are more than 250 resorts, shooting spots and picnic spots in different areas of Gazipur, where a large number of people gather from different parts of the country including Dhaka for picnics, shooting and camping.
