Published: 02:05 2 June 2026
In the proposed 9th National Pay Scale (pay scale) for government employees, it has been recommended to increase the basic salary of the lowest grade from Tk 8,250 to Tk 20,000. At the same time, there is a proposal to increase the basic salary of the highest grade from Tk 78,000 to Tk 1,60,000.
Although the current 20 grades are maintained in the proposed structure, significant salary increases may be made in almost all grades. According to relevant sources, if the new pay scale is implemented, adjustments may also be made in various allowances including accommodation, medical treatment, and transportation.
The government is preparing to implement the new pay scale from July 1. However, it is still awaiting final approval and government notification. After receiving approval, government officials and employees will come under the new pay structure after more than a decade.
