Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, a member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) standing committee, has called the National Citizens Party (NCP) a ‘Kings’ Party. He said he is calling on the chief advisor and advisory council to take an active role in resolving the current political deadlock in the country.
On Saturday, Major (retd) Hafiz spoke at a discussion titled ‘Development of Bhola District’ organized by the Bhola Citizens’ Unity Forum at the Abdus Salam Hall of the National Press Club in the capital. At the meeting, he highlighted various aspects related to the country’s political situation, the crisis of democracy and the development of Bhola district.
He said, “A party that has no public base has been placed at the highest level of government and administration. This is not a joke but an extreme insult to democracy. This NCP is now the ‘King’s Party’. In such a situation, no real progress can be expected for the people of the country.”
He further said, “The current government has destroyed democracy. Now the situation has reached such a level that the Chief Advisor and the Advisory Council should play a responsible role to bring the nation out of this crisis.”
In the discussion, the speakers emphasized the implementation of development projects in the education, health, communication and industrial sectors of Bhola district. The speakers said that Bhola, which is rich in natural resources, is still lagging behind only due to administrative apathy and lack of development plans.
Prominent educationists, political leaders, professional societies and representatives of various development organizations of Bhola district were also present in the meeting.
