Ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament election, the election rally of Alhaj Monirul Islam, an independent MP candidate for Narail-94 (Narail-2) constituency, has been held. The rally, organized at the Maijpara Degree College ground in Maijpara Union of Narail Sadar Upazila on Sunday (February 1) afternoon, was filled with the presence of a large number of leaders, activists and ordinary people in favor of the pitcher symbol.
Former district BNP member Shahin addressed the rally held under the chairmanship of Maijpara Union BNP President Jahangir Alam Mithu and moderated by General Secretary Mahmud Khan. He said that if Monirul Islam is elected as a member of parliament, all political harassment cases will be withdrawn within the next six months. He claimed that the main goal of this election is to establish the voting rights of the common people.
At the rally, Shoaib Mina, former (expelled) leader of the Krishak Dal, said, “No one can be silenced by boycotting. Public opinion in favor of Monirul Islam is growing day by day. The public meeting in Lohagara is a clear proof of that.” At the same time, he called for unity in the field in favor of the pitcher symbol.
Former General Secretary of Sadar Upazila BNP (expelled) Mojahidur Rahman Palash said, “I was arrested while holding a procession against tyranny, I served time in jail, I shed blood. Today, the people will decide who they will send to parliament. You will create a revolution in Narail by voting with the pitcher symbol on February 12.”
Independent candidate Alhaj Monirul Islam said in his speech that there will be no place for extortionists and corrupt people in Narail after the elections. He also assured that all harassment cases filed after August 5 will be withdrawn. He said, “I am contesting the election with the pitcher symbol. This pitcher is the pitcher of Hari Chan Mallick, the symbol of traditional brothers and sisters. The pitcher is the symbol of the common people of Narail-2 constituency, regardless of party or opinion.”
He further said that by voting with the pitcher symbol, we should give a verdict against corruption and irregularities and called on everyone to unite to build a beautiful, peaceful and developed Narail. At the end of the rally, great enthusiasm could be seen among the people present.
