BNP leader Rashed Khan has criticized actress Meher Afroz Shaon's comments regarding July. He claims that such comments about July are comparable to the crimes of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Rashed Khan made this reaction in a post on his verified Facebook account on Thursday morning.
In the post, he said that those who cannot respect the blood and sacrifice of July, but show sympathy for Sheikh Hasina, should stay with Sheikh Hasina.
Rashed Khan also said that the activities of the interim government can be criticized. However, attempts to question the July movement or its achievements in the name of that criticism are in no way acceptable.
According to him, July is not a single issue of any individual, party or government. It is a collective achievement of the people. Therefore, no one can claim sole ownership of July, nor is there any opportunity to insult it.
He further commented that insulting statements about July's sacrifice will not be tolerated on Bangladeshi soil.
Earlier, discussions and criticism started on social media regarding Meher Afroz Shawon's comments regarding July. It was in that context that Rashed Khan made this reaction in his Facebook post.
