US is Bangladesh's long-standing and tested friend: Jamaat Ameer

Bangladesh and the US have long-standing friendly relations, said Opposition Leader in the National Assembly and Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Md. Shafiqur Rahman. Referring to the US as Bangladesh's 'tested and tested friend', he expressed hope that the relationship between the two countries will deepen in the coming days, keeping in mind mutual interests and common goals.
He made these remarks as a special guest at the 250th Independence Day ceremony of the United States held at the South Plaza of the National Assembly on Saturday (July 4). The US Embassy in Dhaka organized the event.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that the relationship between Bangladesh and the US has been moving forward on the basis of cooperation and mutual trust for a long time. The common interests of the two countries and the opportunity to work together in various fields can further strengthen this relationship in the future.
He also highlighted the role of the US in addressing the humanitarian crisis of the large number of Rohingyas who have taken refuge in Bangladesh. According to him, the continuous cooperation of the US in helping the Rohingyas is an important example of the deep partnership between Bangladesh and the US.
He said that this long-standing humanitarian assistance has played a role in increasing trust between the two countries. At the same time, it also reflects the importance of international cooperation in dealing with crises.
The opposition leader expressed hope that Bangladesh-US bilateral relations will be further strengthened in the coming days, keeping in mind mutual interests, common goals and joint objectives. He also believes that there is an opportunity to further expand the existing areas of cooperation between the two countries.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman also highlighted the importance of US cooperation in sustainable development and regional stability. He also commented that the joint commitment of the two countries to establish democracy and human rights at the global level can play an important role in the future.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that the partnership between Bangladesh and the US is not limited to bilateral relations only. If this cooperation is strengthened, it will also be possible to play an effective role in efforts to establish regional stability and global peace.
Expressing the hope that the relations between the two countries will be further expanded and effective in the future, the opposition leader said that Bangladesh and the US will continue to work together in the future on the basis of mutual trust and cooperation.
