The government has decided to declare a 10-day public holiday on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha. This decision was taken at the meeting of the Advisory Council held under the leadership of the Chief Advisor on Tuesday (May 6).

However, the exact date from which this 10-day holiday will start and end has not yet been officially announced. Initially, it is believed that Eid-ul-Azha may be celebrated in the country on June 7, subject to the sighting of the moon. Accordingly, the holiday may start from June 5 (Wednesday) and continue until June 14 (Friday).

According to government sources, it has been decided to keep government offices open on two Saturdays—May 17 and May 24—before Eid to implement this holiday period.

The Chief Advisor's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam confirmed the matter and wrote in a status on his verified Facebook page,

"A 10-day holiday has been declared on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. The offices will be open on Saturdays, May 17 and May 24 to maintain the continuity of government work."

He further said that the draft of the 'Cyber Security Ordinance-2025' was approved in the same meeting.

It is worth noting that even before this, government employees enjoyed a 9-day holiday during the holy Eid-ul-Fitr (2025). The three-day weekly holiday and one-day executive order holiday combined with the main five-day Eid holiday made a total of 9 days of holiday.

This decision has been welcomed by government officials and employees. However, the final holiday schedule will be known when a formal notification is issued in this regard.
