4 dead, 7 injured due to lightning in Kushtia

4 people including a woman died due to lightning in Daulatpur of Kushtia. 7 more people were reported injured in the lightning strike. Their condition is critical. The injured are under treatment at Daulatpur Upazila Health Complex.
The incident took place in Hosnebad area of Daulatpur upazila around 4 pm on Wednesday (October 9).
Daulatpur police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mahabubur Rahman confirmed the death of four people.
The deceased are Nizam Uddin (48), Tarjul Islam (25), Awlad Hossain (60) and Jarura Khatun (40) of Farakpur village.
Quoting locals, Daulatpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahabubur Rahman said that all the casualties were doing field work. When it started raining with heavy thunder, they took shelter under a chapra (single-storey) house. When lightning struck there, everyone was injured. Later the locals rescued them and took them to Daulatpur Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared the four dead.
